Let's build a repair café workshop together in Heliopolis
Volunteers in Heliopolis are raising $300 for a repair café workshop at Jacaranda Primary School.
🇪🇬 Heliopolis, Cairo, Egypt1,663 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Jacaranda Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $300.
It will serve about 228 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $300 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $45
• Materials: $220
• Permits and inspections: $35
With deep gratitude,
Mahmoud

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Mahmoud!
Tools hire and delivery is $45 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. I'll keep the page updated.
Thinking of you, Mahmoud. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Put this on a community board in Nottingham this morning
You're not alone, Mahmoud. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Don't give up. Love from Nottingham
