Let's build a repair café workshop together in Celaya
Volunteers in Celaya are raising $1,000 for a repair café workshop at Union Primary School.
🇲🇽 Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico1,222 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $1,000.
It will serve about 318 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Materials: $840
• Tools hire and delivery: $90
• Safety equipment and signage: $70
With deep gratitude,
Julián

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Julián
Sure. The biggest one is materials, $840. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one.
Rooting for you. Hope this works out for you. My neighbor had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Greetings from Hannover!
Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. My husband and I read this together. Blessings.
