Let's build a repair café workshop together in Athens
Volunteers in Athens are raising $1,950 for a repair café workshop at the Harmony vacant lot.
Anywhere in the world440 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Harmony vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $1,950.
It will serve about 113 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,950 goes:
• Materials: $1,550
• Safety equipment and signage: $110
• Tools hire and delivery: $290
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Athens.
Thank you. If you're in Athens I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Let me know if you want more detail.
Take care. This could happen to any of us. I'm in retail myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. God bless
sending strength. Great idea, hope you get there. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected
So sorry you're going through this, Marina. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I hope October is when things finally get easier. Love from Vancouver.
