Let's build a repair café workshop together in Arlington
A community-led a repair café workshop at the old Unity bus depot that will serve 531 neighbors.
🇺🇸 Arlington, Texas, United States1,263 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Unity bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $1,050, and the remaining cost is $2,000.
It will serve about 531 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,000 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $210
• Materials: $1,400
• Permits and inspections: $390

Rooting for you, Salvador. Looking forward to the next update. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too
Sending love. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. God bless!
Good luck, Salvador. Hope this works out for you
Sending good thoughts, Salvador. More neighborhoods should do this. Thinking of Arlington!
