For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Acacia bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $500. It will serve about 117 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $500 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $105 • Materials: $350 • Permits and inspections: $45 Glad we found this place.
