Let's build a playground together in Venice

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $630, and the remaining cost is $1,300. It will serve about 347 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $1,300 goes: • Materials: $980 • Safety equipment and signage: $95 • Permits and inspections: $225 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
