Let's build a playground together in Salem
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a playground - we need $650 for materials.
🇺🇸 United States268 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Unity bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $650.
It will serve about 532 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $650 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $195
• Permits and inspections: $165
• Safety equipment and signage: $290
Thanks for being kind about this.

You're not alone. Great idea, hope you get there. I went through something like this 14 years ago and strangers helped me out.
More neighborhoods should do this. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. All the best.
Wishing you the best, Mia. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I'm in accounting myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Blessings.
Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We're a small family in San Jose but we're thinking of you!
Wishing you peace. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
Sending good thoughts. Looking forward to the next update. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
Good luck, Mia. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
Keep going, Mia. Hope you get there.
