Nairobi
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Liberty bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $200. It will serve about 548 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $200 goes: • Tools hire and delivery: $85 • Permits and inspections: $45 • Safety equipment and signage: $70 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.
