Let's build a playground together in Los Angeles
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a playground - we need $2,200 for materials.
Anywhere in the world901 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,200.
It will serve about 97 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,200 goes:
• Materials: $1,350
• Permits and inspections: $220
• Safety equipment and signage: $170
• Tools hire and delivery: $460
