Let's build a free library and reading room together in Niterói
A community-led a free library and reading room at Harmony Park that will serve 154 neighbors.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Harmony Park, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $1,250.
It will serve about 154 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Materials: $850
• Permits and inspections: $105
• Safety equipment and signage: $145
• Tools hire and delivery: $150
