Let's build a free library and reading room together in Mangaluru
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a free library and reading room - we need $200 for materials.
🇮🇳 India99 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Sycamore Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $165, and the remaining cost is $200.
It will serve about 221 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $200 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $30
• Tools hire and delivery: $90
• Safety equipment and signage: $80
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
