Let's build a free library and reading room together in Kathmandu

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $450. It will serve about 533 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $450 goes: • Materials: $350 • Permits and inspections: $30 • Safety equipment and signage: $25 • Tools hire and delivery: $45 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
