Let's build a free library and reading room together in Dundee
Volunteers in Dundee are raising $1,900 for a free library and reading room at Cedar Primary School.
🇬🇧 Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom1,395 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Cedar Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $1,900.
It will serve about 491 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,900 goes:
• Materials: $1,150
• Safety equipment and signage: $420
• Permits and inspections: $330
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Good luck. Shared it with a few friends. Don't give up. Greetings from Daegu.
projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I hope August is when things finally get easier. All the best.
Sending love, Alexander. Looking forward to the next update. I'm in social work myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Blessings.
Hope things get better soon, Alexander. Great idea, hope you get there. After 13 years in retail I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Love from Dhaka.
