Let's build a covered market stall space together in Miami
A community-led a covered market stall space at Lotus Primary School that will serve 106 neighbors.
🇺🇸 Florida, United States2,013 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Lotus Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $3,350.
It will serve about 106 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,350 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $270
• Materials: $2,700
• Safety equipment and signage: $380
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
Updates from Santiago
Quick update: $2,247 raised so far (67%). I made the first payment toward materials. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
Update from Miami: we've started the first stage. We're at 33% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

You're not alone, Santiago. I hope things turn around soon. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Love from Sherbrooke
good luck. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Thinking of Miami
thinking of you, Santiago. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Love from Kharkiv.
Hope things get better soon, Santiago. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Take care.
I hope things turn around soon. Sent it to 31 people at work. Greetings from Pune.
