Likoni
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $240, and the remaining cost is $250. It will serve about 552 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $250 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $80 • Permits and inspections: $30 • Materials: $140 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

  • Is safety equipment and signage the biggest cost or is there more coming?

    • Lucy KaranjaOwnerAnswerAddress verified

Sure. The biggest one is safety equipment and signage, $80. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Thanks for asking.
