Let's build a community garden together in Reading
Volunteers in Reading are raising $3,000 for a community garden at the Maple community hall.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $3,000.
It will serve about 384 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,000 goes:
• Materials: $1,900
• Permits and inspections: $125
• Safety equipment and signage: $330
• Tools hire and delivery: $645
