For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $250. It will serve about 80 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $250 goes: • Materials: $135 • Tools hire and delivery: $65 • Safety equipment and signage: $50 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

  • Good luck, Taslima. It takes guts to ask. Well done. After 24 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Thinking of Rajshahi.
