Let's build a community garden together in Istanbul

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar community hall, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $210, and the remaining cost is $650. It will serve about 478 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $650 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $105 • Materials: $440 • Tools hire and delivery: $105 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
