Guarulhos
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Lotus Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $300. It will serve about 226 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $300 goes: • Permits and inspections: $80 • Tools hire and delivery: $85 • Safety equipment and signage: $135 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

  2. Update from Guarulhos: I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts. We're at 33% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

Thinking of you and your family, Thiago. More neighborhoods should do this. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Guarulhos.

So sorry you're going through this, Thiago. More neighborhoods should do this. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double
