Let's build a community garden together in Bakersfield
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community garden - we need $3,450 for materials.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Maple Park, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $3,450.
It will serve about 116 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,450 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $160
• Materials: $3,000
• Permits and inspections: $290
