Let's build a community garden together in Akron
Volunteers in Akron are raising $2,650 for a community garden at Freedom Park.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Freedom Park, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $2,650.
It will serve about 392 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,650 goes:
• Materials: $1,800
• Permits and inspections: $280
• Safety equipment and signage: $410
• Tools hire and delivery: $160
