Let's build a community fridge together in Zapopan
Volunteers in Zapopan are raising $1,000 for a community fridge at the old Lotus bus depot.
🇲🇽 Jalisco, Mexico1,325 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Lotus bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $1,000.
It will serve about 448 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Materials: $660
• Permits and inspections: $55
• Safety equipment and signage: $90
• Tools hire and delivery: $195
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
