Let's build a community fridge together in Madurai
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community fridge - we need $650 for materials.
🇮🇳 India1,196 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $650.
It will serve about 533 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $650 goes:
• Materials: $430
• Permits and inspections: $55
• Safety equipment and signage: $85
• Tools hire and delivery: $80
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Keep going, Umesh. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. God bless.
Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I'm in public service myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you!
This could happen to any of us. Thinking of Madurai!
