Let's build a community fridge together in Los Angeles
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community fridge - we need $2,000 for materials.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Sycamore vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $2,000.
It will serve about 329 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,000 goes:
• Materials: $1,000
• Permits and inspections: $280
• Safety equipment and signage: $430
• Tools hire and delivery: $290
