Let's build a community fridge together in Kingston
Volunteers in Kingston are raising $550 for a community fridge at Maple Park.
🇯🇲 Kingston, Jamaica363 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 23 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Maple Park, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 459 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $550 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $65
• Tools hire and delivery: $65
• Materials: $420
Thank you so much.

Stay strong. It takes guts to ask. Well done. It's not much but it's yours.
