Hyderabad
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $350. It will serve about 382 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $350 goes: • Permits and inspections: $20 • Tools hire and delivery: $20 • Materials: $310 Thank you for reading my story.

sending good thoughts, Hira. Shared it with a few friends. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.

      • So sorry you're going through this, Hira. Gave what I could, wish it was more.

        • I hope things turn around soon. I hope March is when things finally get easier.

          • Looking forward to the next update. After 27 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care!
