Let's build a community fridge together in Entebbe
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community fridge - we need $150 for materials.
🇺🇬 Uganda644 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Park, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $125, and the remaining cost is $150.
It will serve about 373 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $150 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $35
• Tools hire and delivery: $70
Thanks for being kind about this.

Keep going, Mugisha. Great idea, hope you get there.
Keep going. Hope you get there. My husband and I read this together. Blessings
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Mugisha.
Permits and inspections is $45 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Happy to explain more.
Good luck, Mugisha. This could happen to any of us. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Thinking of Entebbe.
how is Mugisha doing now?
thanks for sharing this, Mugisha. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I'm in hospitality myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.
Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Greetings from Worcester.
Sending love, Mugisha. Hope you get there. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too
Hope it all works out, Mugisha. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier.
So sorry you're going through this, Mugisha. Shared this with my family. Take care.
