Let's build a community fridge together in Ballarat
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community fridge - we need $2,450 for materials.
🇦🇺 Ballarat, Victoria, Australia733 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 22 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $2,450.
It will serve about 531 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,450 goes:
• Materials: $1,500
• Permits and inspections: $170
• Safety equipment and signage: $200
• Tools hire and delivery: $580
Glad we found this place.

Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Greetings from Laredo.

You're not alone, Sophie. Hope this works out for you. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend
Take care. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. My neighbor in Addis Ababa donated after I showed her your page
Take care, Sophie. Shared it with a few friends. I hope November is when things finally get easier. Take care.
