Let's build a community fridge together in Aswan
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community fridge - we need $500 for materials.
Anywhere in the world1,591 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 23 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Acacia bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $500.
It will serve about 490 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $500 goes:
• Materials: $360
• Permits and inspections: $30
• Safety equipment and signage: $65
• Tools hire and delivery: $45
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Thank you all. We're at 79% now ($395). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward safety equipment and signage.
Quick update: $70 raised so far (14%). I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
