In July I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. My oncology team at Ann Arbor Cancer Centre has planned 10 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in November. I was told to expect about 3 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 39, I worked as a shop owner until July, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Ann Arbor Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $8,050 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,950 • Household costs while unable to work: $2,150 • Scans and lab work: $1,250 • Transport to Ann Arbor Cancer Centre: $700 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to. - Leonardo
