Leo lives with muscular dystrophy. The occupational therapist at San Jose General Hospital has assessed him and recommended a powered wheelchair. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $4,250.
His current equipment is 13 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 10 weeks.
With the right equipment Leo could go outside without waiting for someone to push. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $4,250 goes:
• Delivery and set-up: $70
• powered wheelchair: $3,900
• First-year servicing plan: $280
