Legal fees for Themba's custody modification in Ekurhuleni
A custody modification deadline is approaching and Themba can't afford the lawyer.
🇿🇦 South Africa1,234 views
Themba is facing a custody modification. The hearing is scheduled for October, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $300. Three legal-aid offices have said their waiting lists are longer than the deadline.
Themba has all the paperwork ready, and a caseworker at Ekurhuleni Welcome Centre has confirmed that the case is valid.
If the deadline is missed Themba could lose the right to stay with the family and the job. The children were born here and this is the only home they know.
Funds cover only the filing fees, translations and attorney retainer.
Where the $300 goes:
• Certified translations and document copies: $80
• Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $30
• Filing and biometrics fees: $190
Thanks for reading all this.

I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. It's not much but it's yours. Greetings from Las Cruces.
