Legal fees for Sami's wage-theft claim in Ottawa
Help Sami cover the fees of a wage-theft claim so He can stay with his family.

I'm facing a wage-theft claim. My hearing is scheduled for June, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $3,300. I have been told by three legal-aid offices that their waiting list is longer than my deadline.
I have all of my paperwork ready, and my caseworker at Ottawa Welcome Centre has confirmed that my case is valid.
If I miss the deadline I could lose my right to stay with my family and my job. My children were born here and this is the only home they know.
I'll share any non-sensitive updates as the case moves along.
Funds cover only the filing fees, translations and attorney retainer.
Where the $3,300 goes:
• Attorney retainer: $2,400
• Filing and biometrics fees: $740
• Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $160
Thank you for reading my story.
Updates from Sami
Thank you all. We're at 11% now ($371). I'm honestly stunned. the plan for filing and biometrics fees is now scheduled.

Sending love. Shared it with a few friends. Put this on a community board in Nîmes this morning.
Sending strength. This could happen to any of us. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Thinking of Ottawa.
I hope things turn around soon. Put this on a community board in Dayton this morning. Take care.
