Brooklyn
Lauren is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying an accounting degree at the Brooklyn Institute of Technology, and is two terms away from graduating. She has worked as a barista to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $5,400. The registrar has said Lauren can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Lauren has a 3.8 average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Lauren would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Lauren isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees. Where the $5,400 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $2,500 • Final term tuition: $2,450 • Exam and lab fees: $230 • Textbooks and materials: $220 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Updates from Ivy

  1. Thank you all. We're at 14% now ($771). I'm honestly stunned. the plan for final term tuition is now scheduled.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($1,211 in total) I made the first payment toward textbooks and materials. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  3. Small update. $1,543 so far, I met with the university and confirmed the amounts.
