Laparoscopic endometriosis surgery for Walter: covering what insurance won't
After endometriosis requiring surgery, Walter was cleared for laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In August I was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery. My surgeon at Joliet General Hospital recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for November. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $11,250, and after what my insurance will pay, I'm still $7,900 short.
Doctors at Joliet General Hospital told me endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. I work as a retail assistant, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $11,250 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a retail assistant have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
The recovery period is expected to take about 12 weeks. I'll not be able to work a full shift during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $7,900 goes:
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $3,250
• Post-operative medication: $390
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $440
• Physiotherapy sessions: $300
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $3,520
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
