Okechukwu was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in January. The surgeon at Lagos University Hospital recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and He is scheduled for April. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,050, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $800 short. my husband has been in and out of Lagos University Hospital since January. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,050 is more than we can find. While we wait, Okechukwu struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Okechukwu won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $800 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $330 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $240 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $80 • Post-operative medication: $70 • Physiotherapy sessions: $65 • Travel and lodging for the family: $15 If you're reading this, thank you.
