Laparoscopic endometriosis surgery for Nabirye: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled laparoscopic endometriosis surgery in September is out of reach without help covering $900 of the cost.

Nabirye was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in July. The surgeon at Kikuyu Regional Medical Center recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,200, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $900 short.
my mother has been in and out of Kikuyu Regional Medical Center since July. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,200 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Nabirye struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Nabirye won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $900 goes:
• Post-operative medication: $60
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $80
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $430
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $270
• Travel and lodging for the family: $60
I hope life is good to you.
