Laparoscopic endometriosis surgery for Levi: covering what insurance won't
Levi needs laparoscopic endometriosis surgery at Mississauga General Hospital and the family is $3,200 short of the hospital's estimate.

In February I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. My surgeon at Mississauga General Hospital recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for April. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $4,250, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $3,200 short.
Doctors at Mississauga General Hospital told me a benign brain tumor will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. I work as a security guard, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $4,250 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a security guard have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. I'll not be able to stand for more than ten minutes during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
