Laparoscopic endometriosis surgery for Danjuma: covering what insurance won't
After gallstones with repeated infections, Danjuma was cleared for laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.
🇳🇬 Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria526 views
Danjuma was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in June. The surgeon at Ikeja General Hospital recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,600, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,200 short.
my husband has been in and out of Ikeja General Hospital since June. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,600 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Danjuma struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Danjuma won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $1,200 goes:
• Post-operative medication: $45
• Travel and lodging for the family: $70
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $540
• Hospital stay (3 nights): $460
• Physiotherapy sessions: $85
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Post-operative medication is $45 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. It helps to be asked.
