Laparoscopic cyst removal for Vera: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled laparoscopic cyst removal in November is out of reach without help covering $250 of the cost.

Vera was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in August. The surgeon at Kharkiv University Hospital recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $330, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $250 short.
my wife has been in and out of Kharkiv University Hospital since August. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $330 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Vera struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Vera won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $250 goes:
• Physiotherapy sessions: $165
• Post-operative medication: $70
• Travel and lodging for the family: $15
Every share and every dollar helps.
