Laparoscopic cyst removal for Nokuthula: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled laparoscopic cyst removal in September is out of reach without help covering $1,350 of the cost.

Nokuthula was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in May. The surgeon at Johannesburg Regional Medical Center recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,950, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $1,350 short.
my mother has been in and out of Johannesburg Regional Medical Center since May. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,950 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Nokuthula struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Nokuthula won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $1,350 goes:
• Hospital stay (5 nights): $550
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $660
• Travel and lodging for the family: $50
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $90
