Lanre's knee replacement surgery can't wait - please help us cover the bill
A scheduled knee replacement surgery in November is out of reach without help covering $550 of the cost.

In August I was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated. My surgeon at Lagos General Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for November. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,100, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $550 short.
Doctors at Lagos General Hospital told me a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without knee replacement surgery. I work as a market vendor, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,100 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a market vendor have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 6 weeks. I'll not be able to drive during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $550 goes:
• Travel and lodging for the family: $45
• Post-operative medication: $30
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $370
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $105

Hope it all works out, Lanre. Gave what I could, wish it was more. After 22 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
Hope it all works out, Lanre. Hope the doctors have good news.
Thinking of you. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. I'm in retail myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Blessings
Rooting for you, Lanre. Wishing Lanre a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Love from Wollongong.
