Landslide in Machakos: help the Orchard settlement rebuild
Neighbors in the Orchard settlement are rebuilding after the landslide; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.
🇰🇪 Machakos, Machakos, KenyaPosted Oct 1, 20261,052 views
The landslide hit the Orchard settlement on 14 September. My home was one of 59 damaged, and 13 families are still in temporary shelter at a borrowed warehouse.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $1,700 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $880
• Clean water and purification supplies: $200
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $270
• Food parcels for displaced families: $190
• Tools and labor for repairs: $160
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

you're not alone, Dorcas. Great idea, hope you get there. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
