Lâm's school year: uniform, books and a laptop
Lâm won a place at Hồ Chí Minh City Girls' High School but the family can't afford the uniform, books and laptop required.

I earned a place in Year 10 at Hồ Chí Minh City Girls' High School, and I couldn't be prouder. The school has a long list of things I need, including a laptop for the graphic design course, and a uniform.
My mother works two jobs, and the list costs $200, which is more than we have.
I love graphic design and want to become an architect. A laptop will let me do coursework at home instead of waiting for library hours.
I'll take care of everything you give me and I promise to work hard.
Items on the list: laptop, uniform, shoes, textbooks, calculator and a bag.
Where the $200 goes:
• Laptop: $105
• School uniform and shoes: $30
• Textbooks and workbooks: $35
• Calculator, stationery and a school bag: $30
I hope life is good to you.

Hope things get better soon, Lâm. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. I hope October is when things finally get easier.
Keep going, Lâm. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust
