The winter storm hit the Sunrise district on 25 January. My home was one of 53 damaged, and 14 families are still in temporary shelter at the sports club. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $8,900 goes: • Roofing sheets and timber: $4,750 • Clean water and purification supplies: $960 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $1,400 • Food parcels for displaced families: $1,050 • Tools and labor for repairs: $740 With deep gratitude, Liliana

  • Thinking of you and your family. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Blessings.

    • Wishing you the best. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected

        • Sending good thoughts. This could happen to any of us. My mother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Love from Liverpool.
