After a divorce, Kumar is raising two young children alone and needs $500 to stay afloat for 5 months.

Last January I went through a divorce, and I'm now raising two young children on my own. I work as a school kitchen assistant, but my income doesn't cover rent, childcare and groceries.
I'm retraining as a bookkeeper in the evenings, which will triple my income by April, but I need to bridge the gap until then.
Some weeks I skip meals so my children can eat. I have never asked anyone for help like this before, and I'm doing it for them.
Once I finish my course, I'll pay it forward.
Every cent is accounted for. I'll share a simple monthly breakdown.
Where the $500 goes:
• Rent top-up: $290
• Groceries and school meals: $115
• Course fees and exam costs: $95
I hope life is good to you.

7% there. I made the first payment toward course fees and exam costs. Thank you.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Kumar.
Sure. The biggest one is rent top-up, $290. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Appreciate you taking the time.
a secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. I'm in retail myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Take care.
Thanks for sharing this, Kumar. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Blessings.
Sending strength, Kumar. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
