Kolkata heatwave relief - the Harbor district
After the heatwave, families in the Harbor district need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.

The heatwave hit the Harbor district on 14 February. My home was one of 58 damaged, and 9 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $900 goes:
• Clean water and purification supplies: $110
• Tools and labor for repairs: $310
• Food parcels for displaced families: $240
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $240
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

you're not alone, Taslima. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My neighbor had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
