Kofi was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections in March. The surgeon at Accra Regional Medical Center recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and He is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,300, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $650 short. my son has been in and out of Accra Regional Medical Center since March. The doctors say a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,300 is more than we can find. While we wait, Kofi struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Kofi won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $650 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $250 • Post-operative medication: $50 • Physiotherapy sessions: $80 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $200 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $70 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Yaa

  • Stay strong. Hope the doctors have good news. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Greetings from Peoria.

    • Sending good thoughts. Shared it with a few friends. After 11 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything.

      • Praying for you, Yaa. Get well soon. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust

        • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Thinking of Accra.

          • keep going. Get well soon. Take care.
