After a cleft palate needing repair, Ximena was cleared for knee replacement surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Ximena was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in March. The surgeon at San Antonio Community Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,900, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $2,350 short. my sister has been in and out of San Antonio Community Hospital since March. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,900 is more than we can find. While we wait, Ximena struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Ximena won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $2,350 goes: • Travel and lodging for the family: $390 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $1,500 • Physiotherapy sessions: $460 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to. - Crystal
