Sebastian was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in August. The surgeon at Laval Orthopedic Institute recommended knee replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,300, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $3,450 short. my father has been in and out of Laval Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,300 is more than we can find. While we wait, Sebastian struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Sebastian won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $3,450 goes: • Post-operative medication: $320 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,750 • Physiotherapy sessions: $770 • Travel and lodging for the family: $260 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $350 I hope life is good to you.

  • Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Mumbai

    • Sending good thoughts, Tammy. Looking forward to the next update. Wish I lived closer to Vitória da Conquista so I could bring a meal. All the best!
